What is it? • Movement developed in the east of the United States. • It took place in the early nineteen century(late 1920’2-1930’s) • Ralph Waldo Emerson, Frederic Henry Hedge, George Ripley, met to form the transcendentalist club. • Critiques the country’s situation (slavery and pre-civil war) • Debates about intellectualism at Harvard university as well as the Unitarian church.
