  15. In 2006/07, 40.3% of children in Winnipeg’s Point Douglas community were not ready to start school on one or more indicators. If parents and community, government and business leaders worked together, could we improve this picture? Has anything changed as a result of initiatives since that time?
  16. Our garbage per capita going to the landfill has dropped since the city has offered new diversion opportunities, but we are still much higher than the national average. How can we encourage Winnipeggers to take better advantage of the city’s diversion opportunities? What can my neighbours, my workplace and I do?
  17. Approximately three times as many children in Point Douglas are hospitalized due to injury than children in St. Boniface. What can individuals, community organizations, government and businesses do together to make Point Douglas a safer community for young children?
  18. Over a 15-year period, the number of young children hospitalized in Winnipeg has decreased by more than a third. In the Point Douglas community, it is now half of what it was 15 years ago. What does this tell us about the effectiveness of all of our efforts to make this a safer neighbourhood for young children? What are the effective interventions and collaborations that we might grow to expand to other areas?
