Cosmetology I - II • LISD offers the cosmetology program at 2 locations • Dale Jackson Career Center • Flower Mound High School • Marcus High School • Half of Lewisville High School • Career Center East • Hebron High School • The Colony High School • Half of Lewisville High School
COSMETOLOGY I-II • Two Year Program • Junior/Senior Year • 2 Periods plus additional time • Every day for 2 years • Eight Credit Course • One Local and Three State Credits per year
COSMETOLOGY I • Student Kit-Junior Year • Students will purchase a cosmetology kit with all tools needed to perform class and client assignments • Cost $500.00 • Included in the kit • Professional grade blow-dryer, flat iron, clippers and trimmers, curling irons, brushes, combs and a set of scissors/thinning shears and cutting razor (additional items also included) • Mannequins • Locking kit bag • Student kits will remain at school until end of senior year • Kits can then be used in their workplace • Any item lost or broken must be replaced
Due At Orientation (April or May) • $250.00 • Kit cost may be paid in full at orientation ($500) • Check or Money Order ONLY (No Cash-DJCC) • $25.00 Student Permit Fee • American Express Gift Card (Only) • All students will also receive a Texas Cosmetology Laws and Rules Book • Proof of State Issued I.D. • Texas Department of Rules and Regulations requires all students enrolled in cosmetology to provide a Social Security Number or a valid State Issued I.D. Number. • 2x2 Passport sized photo of student (required by state)
COSMETOLOGY I • Required For First Day of Class • $250 (other payment for the kit) • Student Permit • Uniform • Black Scrubs, • Students name on left side of scrub top • Tennis or Sport Style Shoes • Students who are not in uniform or do not have a permit will not allowed to be on the clock. • Each program may have other requirements that will be expected to be met.
COSMETOLOGY I-II • 1000 Clocked Hours • 525 Junior Year (hours must be met to progress to senior year) • 475 Senior Year • State Board Exam is taken senior year • 900 hours - sit for written exam • 1000 hours - sit for practical exam • Hands-On Practical Application Requirement • All applications must be performed and finished by senior year in order to sit for state board exam
COSMETOLOGY II • Student Kit-Senior Year • Student kits from junior year will be used • Any items lost or broken must be replaced • Additional Cost of $250.00 • Cost includes • Mannequins • Advanced Class Certification • State Board Testing Written Exam Fee and Practical Exam Fee
Due First Day of School • $250 (remaining portion of kit fee) • All required forms signed • Students must be in uniform • Students will be given a list of lab supplies that they will need to bring in and a date when they will be due. • Student must get to CCE/DJCC on their own til busses start running early routes.
Road Bumps • Social Security #/State Issued ID # • (Please contact us if you are unsure about these or have a question. We don’t want this to rule out your decision to request the course) • Not Having Scrubs On to Earn Hours • Maybe have a set or two that you can rotate thru the wash, keep in locker at school • First Week Transportation • Cosmo busses take a few days to get going, make sure you have transportation to get to your campus by 7:55am and home after class at 3:55pm. • Attendance: Absences are detrimental to your hours. • Payments: You must pay $250 at orientation in April and the last $250 by the first week of school. Please communicate with the teachers about finances.
