New supported platforms • Existing supported platforms: AIX and HP-UX • Addition of 2 new platforms: Solaris and Linux
BAHIA - interactive front-end Introduction of multi-processors: • AIX 4.1.5 -> 6 * F40 • HP-UX 10.20 -> 7 * HP9000/780/J282 Introduction of 2 new platforms: • Solaris 2.6 -> 3 * Ultra-4/E450 • Linux (based on RedHat 5.2) -> 2 PentiumII450
Merging of the 2 batch clusters • Until now 2 batch clusters (AIX and HP-UX): • Basta - CPU intensive • Anatasie - I/O intensive • Merge into one general cluster with 4 platforms (about 100 stations in total) • New job submission options: IObound or CPUbound • New version of BQS: support of new platforms and new options • Present statistics: 2 * 75000 UI/month, ~80% cpu
Networking - LAN • Replacement of ATM by • Fast Ethernet (100Mb full duplex) --> to interactive and batch services • Giga Ethernet (1Gb full duplex) --> to disk servers and Objectivity/DB server
Networking - WAN • Project “Renater 2” based on virtual networking (ATM) with guaranteed bandwith. • See the presentation of this project by Chafia Tifra.
Support for BaBar • Objectivity/DB server (v.5.1 on Solaris 2.6) with 250 GB • HPSS with interface to Objectivity database for BaBar • ams --> oofs --> ooss --> HPSS • 3 Redwood drives for HPSS • HPSS server on AIX
New disk server • Need to make the disk storage independent of the operating system. • Disk server based on VSS (Versatile Storage System) from IBM with 1 TB on tests.
Local software developments • UserSupport • Management and tracking of the “help desk” problems • WEB + Javascript + Oracle database • RLS - Remote Logging System: see the presentation by Marc Gessner
Present and future actions • Looking for the other/new data storage technologies (STK 20GB cartridges) • Establish better support for the present and future big experiments (BaBar, D0, Star)
