They are statements of what you will or won't do, what you like and don't like...how close someone can get to you (Lundberg, 2000). • Professional Boundaries- are rules of relating to clients set forth by organizations and their ethics codes
Key Concepts • Boundary crossing is a departure from commonly accepted practices that could potentially benefit clients. • Boundary violation is a serious breach of professional treatment that results in harm to clients.
Key Concepts • Dual relationships occur when professionals assume two or more roles at the same time or sequentially with a client; any relationship that is outside the boundaries of the standard therapeutic relationship. • Multiple relationships are characterized by a professional occupying several different nonprofessional roles with a client. • Nonprofessional relationships is a term that refers to dual or multiple relationships; these involve relationships that are not strictly a part of the professional endeavor and have potentially beneficial aspects.
