  2. Unit 6 Good manners • StepⅠHello, everyone! • StepⅡFree talk and presentation In our daily life , it is very important to be polite in communication with others , whether in China or in for- eign countries, you should pay att- ention to your manners.

  3. Some new words and phrases: ⅰmake use of : use (well, in the best way) e.g. You must make good use of any chances you have of practicing English. ⅱ interrupt : vt. , vi. : to say something when someone is already speaking and cause them to stop. e.g. It’ rude to interrupt.

  4. ⅲ I’ m terribly sorry = l’ m very sorry ⅳ no problem : use to tell someone you can easily do sth. For them. e. g. –Will you please help me with my homework. --No problem.

  5. Examples • If you run into someone , you should say… • If you are in a strange place , you want to ask someone to tell you the way , what you say first… • If someone helps you , you should say…

  6. Pictureⅰ A: Excuse me, may l come in? B: Sure, we have already started. A: I’ m sorry, l’ ve missed the bus. B: That’ s ok, we’ re in page47 Pictureⅱ A: Excuse me, may i interrupt you for a moment. B: What is it ?, Jordan ? A: I’ m sorry, Mr. Baker, l put my homework on your desk. Step Ⅲ Warming up

  8. Step Ⅳ Listening • Turn to page 37 and look at the listening part .First , read the questions quickly. Then make a guess what happened in the dialogue.

  9. Step Ⅴ Speaking • Situation one A : Look ! Mr. Black is coming , why not having a talk with him ? You know , he will work with you tomorrow. B : Oh , really ? L ’ d like to , but l haven ’ t met him before. A : Sorry , l didn’ t know . B : Would you please introduce me to him ? A : No problem.

  10. Situation two A : Excuse me . Are these bags yours ? B : Yes , they are mine . A : Are these seats free ? B : Ye , they are free . A : Do you mind if my friend and l sit here? B : Go ahead , please.
