  4. The British win the war! France gives up all its claims in Canada.

  5. The War of 1812 between the U.S & Canada begins. It lasts two years. Canada unites to defeat the U.S.

  6. British North America Act passes on July 1st. The Dominion of Canada is created.

  7. After five years of construction, the Canadian Pacific RR is completed.

  8. The Klondike goldrush in the Yukon Terr. brought thousands of people searching for gold.

  9. Canadians fight in WWI and WWII against Germany. Canada becomes the 4th largest nation in the world.

  10. Quebec wants to secede to become an independent country. It is voted down.

  11. A new constitution is approved. Canada becomes a bilingual country w/English and French as official languages. oui yes

  12. On April 1st, Nunavut is established. Most living there are Inuit Indians.

  13. Canada enters the war on terrorism. It sends ships to Afghanistan.

  14. Paul Martin, Jr. elected Prime Minister of Canada

  15. Stephen Harper named the 22nd Prime Minister of Canada.
