THE OLYMPICS • Over 2,700 years ago the Olympic games were invented in Olympia (Southwest Greece.) • In Ancient Greek times, they always did the Olympic event naked. • The Olympic sports were: Stadion, Diaulos, Dolichos, Hoplitodromos, Long Jump, Discus, Javelin, Wrestling, Boxing, Pankration, Chariot Racing and Horse Racing.

  4. Pictures and facts Stadion, which is a 200m running race, was the first ever Olympic event. It was the only sport for the first 13 ancient Olympics. Diaulos was twice the length of the Stadion race. This race is 400m in length. Dolichos is another running race. In this race they ran 4615m (running 24 Stadions.) Hoplitodromos is the same length as the Diaulos. The only different thing is they ran with armour , helmet, shields and leg armour. Pankration is a mixture of boxing and wrestling.

  5. ARCHITECTURE IN GREECE • In Greece, there is a famous building called the Parthenon which is 2,444 years old. It was built in 432 B.C. by the Ancient Greeks.

  6. The Doric style is the most plain.    The Ionic design is famous for its scrolls.  The Corinthian style is quite fancy.

  7. SPARTANS • In Sparta boys who were7 years old would have to go to war until they were 60. • Spartans were always ready for surprise attacks because they had an army ready all the time. • Athens and Sparta fought regularly to see who wasthe best town in Greece.

  8. THE TROJAN WAR • The people of Troy and the Greeks were fighting and that was what made the Trojan war . • After hiding inside a wooden horse so they could get into the castle of Troy the Greeks could try to kill all of the Troy army .
