  1. What are we going to do today?

  2. We’re going to learn a new activity for practicing vocabulary.

  3. Hmmm. We already learned a couple of ways to understand our words better. Let me remember…

  4. Oh, yeah! Last class, we started to PLAY with the words. And before that, we found a lot of sentences for context examples.

  5. Wow! You are clever to remember all that! Today we are going to PLAY with words again, but we are also going to practice finding IMAGES to represent our words.

  6. Why?

  7. Why! I love that question! Some fancy scientists have discovered that it helps us learn words better when we represent—or show--them with pictures.

  8. Oh, goody! I can’t wait! What will I be able to do at the end of class?

  9. Fabulous question! You will be able to do THREE things. This is YOU in the future:

  10. I can create an Animototo represent and play with a word I can find images to represent (show) word meanings I can identify at least 3 internet resources for finding word images

  20. Task # 1 • Find 3 images to represent words from chapters 1 – 3. • Use 3 different websites. Include the URLs. • Use 3 different words. • Copy each image into a document, and copy the URL under it. (Word, PowerPoint, etc) • You will share your images.

  23. Task # 2 • Create an Animoto to show any one word from Chapters 1 – 3. • This will be kind of like 4 Pics One Word. • Here’s an example • http://animoto.com/play/4pbbtIqcWU8Dc6rnZFrcuA • Can you guess my word?

You need to make at least one Animoto with at least 4 pictures in it • Animoto steps: • Click CREATE • Choose a STYLE (explore, listen, then choose one) • Click MAKE A 30-SECOND VIDEO • Add images to your video. You will need to save some pictures to your U: drive or a flashdrive OR you can try the Animoto gallery. • You can put in 5 or 6 pictures. Choose carefully!

  25. SHHHHHH! • Your Animoto word should be SECRET. • Don’t tell! See if we can guess!
