  1. LASCO BATHWARE Lean Six Sigma Project by Darryl and Jack

  2. Title • 1: Discuss why the project was completed. • The primary pilot project objectives were to (page ES1) • 􀂃 Evaluate the benefits and synergies of deliberately integrating environmental considerations into on-the-ground lean practices. • 􀂃 Improve product quality, production efficiency, and product flow in specific areas of the Lasco facility • 􀂃 Gain experience to offer and promote lean and environment projects to manufacturers statewide.

  3. Title • 2: Identify what leadership and Team building methods were used.

  4. Title • 3: Discuss how and what type of customer focus was established.

  5. Title • 4: Identify what costs of quality items were defined and why? • (Chapter 6 Cost of Quality) Page 4- reducing inventory of finished goods (internal Cost of Quality) page 5- Potential product damage on the conveyor and during packaging (internal Cost of Quality) page 6-Reducing variability of resin spray to the units which causes defects and cracking of the finished units (internal Cost of Quality) page 13- eliminated calibration waste by installing in-line flow meters (appraisal cost)

  6. IdentifyWhatProcess Performance measureswereused.

  7. Title • Identify what DMAIC processes were used. • VSM was used to understand the largest sources of lean manufacturing and environmental wastes, and to identify three improvement projects. There was also a DOE done to address spray variability. This involved extensive data collection to determine how to best measure and reduce resin fluctuation and final unit weights. clearly there was a lot of data that was collected, but did not say how it was analyzed. There are a lot of examples of improvement, and even some examples of control (5s score cards) but again not a lot of detail on what type of charts were used to quantify the data.

  8. Title • 7: Discuss what process Improvement tools where used such as Value-Added Process Mapping,Just-in-Time, 5S, Kaizen, Work Optimization and Productive Maintenance.

  9. Title Discuss what variation reduction tool were used such as control Charts, Capability studies, Reliability studies and Design of Experiments. There was also a DOE done to address spray variability. This involved extensive data collection to determine how to best measure and reduce resin fluctuation and final unit weights. TPM total productive maintenance.
