  1. Humans & Computers Will computers ever achieve human intelligence? Creativity? Originality? Thoughts? Is Artificial Intelligence Possible? The future of Human-Computer Interaction

  2. It is not my aim to surprise or shock you--but the simplest way I can summarize is to say that there are now in the world machines that can think, that can learn and that can create. Moreover, their ability to do these things is going to increase rapidly until--in a visible future--the range of problems they can handle will be coextensive with the range to which the human mind has been applied. --Herbert Simon

  3. Future of Artificial Intelligence • Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the area of computer science focusing on creating machines that can engage on behaviors that humans consider intelligent. The ability to create intelligent machines has intrigued humans since ancient times, and today with the advent of the computer and 50 years of research into AI programming techniques, the dream of smart machines is becoming a reality. Researchers are creating systems which can mimic human thought, understand speech, beat the best human chess player, and countless other feats never before possible.( http://library.thinkquest.org/2705/)

  4. An Introduction to Artificial Intelligence In order to classify machines as "thinking", it is necessary to define intelligence. To what degree does intelligence consist of, for example, solving complex problems, or making generalizations and relationships? And what about perception and comprehension? Research into the areas of learning, of language, and of sensory perception have aided scientists in building intelligent machines. One of the most challenging approaches facing experts is building systems that mimic the behavior of the human brain, made up of billions of neurons, and arguably the most complex matter in the universe. Perhaps the best way to gauge the intelligence of a machine is British computer scientist Alan Turing's test. He stated that a computer would deserves to be called intelligent if it could deceive a human into believing that it was human. (http://library.thinkquest.org/2705/basics.html)

  5. A.I may someday do more jobs for humans. Like: Cleaning, Fixing things, walking your dog, providing “companionship”. It seems endless what may happen in the future. Interacting with computers may become more and more personal. Is it possible for smart robots like the ones in movies to ever become reality? How A.I. May Effect Human Interaction with Computers

  6. Look at the last 100 years!!!!! • Things people never thought possible in the past are normal to us now. TV, Internet, Cell phones. All these technologies seem everyday to us but they would be astonishing to people of the past. Just like Robots who are like humans seems implausible now. Technology is advancing so fast, who knows what may come.

  7. Old Computer

  9. Technology Advancing

  10. Discussion Questions • Do you believe A.I. is possible? • Would this type of technology be positive or negative? • How far is to far in technological advancement?
