Priorities (1/3) Program Building • Digital Initiatives – late start on building a digitization program, but not all bad at being last out the gate; EAD conversion grant • Digital Preservation – MetaArchive, Open LOCKSS network member, development of written digital preservation plan, goal to participate in development community • Attempting to hire staff to meet goals of unit and to retrain current staff

Priorities (2/3) Building Collaborations • On-campus – Campus IT; Cyberinfrastructure Division; Open Parks Grid; Internal Library education • Off-campus – South Carolina Digital Library regional scan center; MetaArchive • Grants – IMLS Connecting to Collections statewide survey; partner in NEH grant application to preserve digital newspapers

  4. Priorities (3/3) Future Planning • Repository building – aren’t we all in this business? Fedora repository planned in collaboration with campus IT – to include digitized objects, born-digital publications, etc. and datasets – i.e. Intelligent River • Aligning staffing and funding with priorities – obviously easier said than done

  5. Questions? If there is time, what do people think of the OCLC/OAISTER deal? In particular the terms and conditions of submission?
