  1. ISAIAH BY : FIO 7.2

  2. Isaiah • The name Isaiah means “Jehovah is Salvation” • He is the son of Amoz • Isaiah was a Hebrew prophet. • He ministered in Judah c. 740-681 B.C. • His home is believed to be in Jerusalem. • He worked as the official of King Uzziah of Judah, later called by God to be a prophet. • He is best known as the Old Testement prophet who predicted the coming of the Messiah. • He is described as a man of God, strongly suggesting that he was more closely related to God than others and showing that he is a man of righteous character.

  3. Isaiah’s Family • Isaiah reffered to his wife as the “prophetess”, and gave his two sons names symbolic of his prophecies. They’re names are Shear-Yashub which means a remnant (small quantity of something) will return, suggesting a return to the God of Israel from those who no longer has a close relation with Him, and Maher-shalal-has-baz, which means “quick prey”, meant to serve as a warning.

  4. Isaiah’s Task • His service is as a messenger of Jehovah. His task is to deliver messages from the Lord to the people. His words are trustable because it is in the name of the Lord. • The kingdom of Judah was in the state of spiritual decline. The nation no longer has trust in Jehovah. Isaiah’s task was to proclaim the Lord’s word to them, affirming them that security is found in the one true God, and no the powers of heathenism (various religions other than Christianity, Judaism, or Islamism)

  5. The theme of the book of Isaiah is: • The sovereign (supreme ruler) Lord, Judging and Redeeming the whole earth. • Written by : Isaiah
