  5. Why Chinese people care about Chī (eating) so much? • An old Chinese saying :A king`s life depends upon the people,while food is what matters to the people. • Confucius said:Dining and inercourse bewteen male and female are the most basic and important requirement.

  6. Chinese people`s daily life has much to do with the word Chī(eating). E.g. 1. 7 daily necessities for a family: chái mǐ yóu yán jiàn cù chá . (Firewood ,rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and tea.) 2. Chī le méi?(How are you?) 3.fàn wǎn(Job) 4.Chī xiāng(Be very popular)

  12. Chapter 1 Chinese traditional staple food • China has diverse natural conditions across its land. As a result, Chinese people living in different areas enjoy absolutely different but rich staple food. From the south to the north, the diverse staple food provide energy for human bodies. Moreover, they influence people's feelings towards the change of four seasons and enrich the lives of the Chinese.

  13. 1.Rice (Mǐfàn) rice is the most common staple food in china. Different areas have different type of rice ,it taste different . Cooking method : boiling ,steaming stir-frying Types: Porridge , fried rice , steamed rice

  15. 2.noodles(Miàntiáo) noodles is a very old food and it originated in China . It has a long history . As a staple food ,it usually used in northeast. Also noodles have many different cooking method. Every kind of noodle may taste very different .

  16. The First Culture of Chinese Noodles Festival has released its list of the top ten most popular Chinese noodles . The list covers famed dishes from all across China, including Wuhan hot noodles, Beijing noodles with soybean paste, Shanxi sliced noodles, Henan stewed noodles, Lanzhou ramen, Hangzhou Pian Er Chuan, Kunshan Aozao noodles, Zhenjiang pot cover noodles, Sichuan spicy dandan noodles and Jilin Yanji cold noodles. ī

  20. 3. Rice noodle (Mǐfěn) People from the very south of China eat rice noodles almost for 3 meals. As white as jade, the rice noodles preserve some warmth and produce the unique fragrance of rice. In China,just like noodles,there are several different rice noodles ,too.

  25. In China,we eat 3 meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. • The breakfast is simple. In northern China, we often eat conjee, soybean milk, youtiao(deep-fried twisted dough sticks), milk, steamed bread, and egg. In southern China, people like to eat noodles. • In southern China, we hold that breakfast should be good, the lunch should be enough, the dinner should be small. People often say: a fine breakfast, a full lunch, and a small dinner.
