African Heritage Youth Quiz 2014 PRACTICE QUIZ
Rules of the Quiz • Each team: 4 players + 1 back-up/alternate player. • In order to answer a question, players must buzz in and wait to be called upon by a Host. The first team to buzz in will have 5 seconds to answer the question. If a correct answer is not provided within 5 sec., the opposing team will be given up to 10 sec. to answer. • If a player buzzes in before the Host finishes reading a question, the Host will stop reading and will call on the buzzing team to answer the question. If that team is unable to provide a correct answer, then the Host will re-read the question, in its entirety, for the opposing team.
Rules (continued) • If an audience member or anyone else reveals the answer of a question before the players answer the question, the question is voided. • In the case of a disputed answer, the judge will determine the correct answer. The judge’s decision will be final. • If no team is able to correctly answer the question, audience members will be given an opportunity to answer the question.
During the Quiz… • One at a time! This is a team event, but only one person can answer each question. • Go ahead and ask! You can ask the Quiz Host to repeat the question or ask for a clarification. • Back off of the buzzer! Hovering hands are not allowed. • Speak up! Lean forward and speak clearly into the microphone so your answer can be heard everywhere in the room.
Here We Go… • Stay positive and keep the energy going! Each new question is a fresh start for you and for your team. If your team is down by a large number of points, it is possible to make up the difference. • There are 3 types of questions: Multiple Choice (4 choices, worth 5pts. each). Snapper (quick question and answer, worth 5 pts. each). Who or What Am I? (series of clues, worth 5-20 pts. each). Have Fun and Practice Good Sportsmanship!
