OFED Testing Session Amit Krig & Nimrod Gindi Mellanox Technologies May 2007
Agenda • Charter from SC06 • OFED Interoperability update • What we’ve done since SC06 • OFED Large Cluster Testing • Next steps
Charter from SC06 • Form a Task-Force with following goals: • Unify the reporting method of all OFA companies with relation to the testing of OFED release. • Driving OFA member companies to report all issues found during testing • Define ULP testing owners • Publish tests with OFED
OFED Interoperability Update • Successful event held at UNH IOL labs (April-07) • OFED-IWG members are encouraged to contribute equipment for the new test cluster at UNH IOL (including storage systems) • As planed Interoperability event was held prior to OFED releases (issues reported to OFA) • Passing the interoperability procedure as defined by IWG should remain a criteria for next release
What we’ve done since SC06 • Unified Test Reporting • Most vendor started to use it in OFED 1.2 • An update is being sent out for each release candidate • Reviewing the reports during the weekly conference call
What we’ve done since SC06… cont. • OFED Testing Efficiency: • Improving test/applications knowledge sharing by using the same report • Increasing quality and reduce the testing effort • Task force held synchronization meeting every other week • Moving forward a regular test Sync up on testing status towards a release should be formed • We’ve defined a qualifying owner for each ULP and made it part of the testing report
OFED Large Cluster Testing • Today (with no change from SC06): • Most official reports are based on testing of small clusters • Next release: Establish a large beta-site testing cluster • Increase quality/confidence • Generate an acceptable cluster test list
Next steps • Still no real InfiniBand test project • Only few unsupported tests in the Old IBTP • New features should have a testing owner • Test plans, standard applications & topologies should be shared as well • Small verification subgroups should be formed
