Past circumstances in Canada’s history have led to the way the First Nations and Canada’s government have interpreted Treaties. When writing Treaties, the First Nations could not communicate with Canada’s government properly as they spoke different languages, interpreters had to be used to make the Treaties. By using interpreters, some key parts of Treaties were left out or misinterpreted.
