  4. The EC Water Framework Directive2000/60/EC • Purpose: Establish a framework for the protection of inland waters in Europe • Aims: • preventdeterioration of present status • goodecological and chemical status 2015 • Implemented in the Environmental Act

  5. The role of the SFA • Responsibility to contribute to the aims of the WFD • Information and courses • Legal enforcement (the Forestry Act) Is this enough?

Suggest complementary additions to the Forestry Act and other measures • Analyse consequenses for the forest sector and the state - timber - forest bio-fuel - economic • March 31st 2010, report to the Ministry of Agriculture Special assignment New interimtargetsuggestedconcerningwaters in the forest landscape
