Objective & Goals • Our objective is to teach the student how to master addition: • Our goals are to engage the students in individual math at their seats by counting jelly beans to add by ten and above. • The students will be engaged by answering questions at the smart board and participating in a timed test. • Grade Level: First
Sunshine Standards • Here are the following mathematic Sunshine Standards we will be using: • counting strategies • number patterns • models as a means for solving basic addition and subtraction fact problems. • (MA.1.A.1.4)
Lesson Plan • Twenty minute lesson: • We will use the Internet for a YouTube video. • The students will be engaging in individual math at their seats by counting jelly beans to add by ten and above. • The students will be engaged with an active math rhyme. • They will answer questions at the smart board. • Finally we will engage the students in a timed test.

Adding with jelly beans • Grab some jelly beans and lets begin. • Make a math problem on your own. • Now make two more that are not the same. • Example: 10 jelly beans + 2 more = ?
Now it’s time for a Math Rhyme 1 Jelly Bean + 1 jelly bean=2 Now touch your shoe 2 Jelly beans + 2 jelly beans=4 Now stomp the floor 4 Jelly beans + 4 jelly beans=8 Now slap your leg 8 Jelly beans + 8 jelly beans=16 Now take a seat
