Facts about Fair Trade • More than 4,500 products have been licensed to carry the FAIRTRADE Mark • A massive 72% of the UK public now recognize the FAIRTRADE Mark • More than 7 million people in Africa, Asia and Latin America benefit from Fairtrade • The first town to achieve Fair trade status was Garstang in 2000 • Fair trade bananas now account for 1 in 4 bananas sold in the UK

Two producers from different placesand how Fair Trade helps their community • Conrad James - Banana Farmer - Windward Islands. He feels that Fairtrade is helping to change peoples’ way of life and is encouraging them to stay in farming rather than get jobs in other industries or leave the island altogether. • TadesseMeskela – Coffee Farmer - Ethiopia “Our members have greatly benefited from the profits Fairtrade has generated. On top of that, we are now getting technical and financial support that enables us to continue our tradition of excellence. Therefore, Fairtrade membership is very important to our organization and its members."
Details of local sources of Fair Trade products • One of the local sources for Fair Trade is Sainsbury's. Justin King says: “There is a clear business case for the Fairtrade approach-safeguarding the sustainable supply of quality goods, and ensuring they are produced to the standards our customers expect.”
Details of the Event I am going to promote a fair trade event of my choice. By analyzing my survey results I found that the best product to promote would be from the food and drink category. I will be promoting Fair Trades Divine After Dinner Mint Thins chocolates on 15th May 2013.
