  3. Safe Practices • make your passwords over eight characters long • if anybody makes you feel uncomfortable block them and tell an adult • keep all personal info to yourself • only chat with friends that you have met in person before • you must be 13 years old to be in a chat room

  4. Unsafe Practices • don’t give out personal info online • never meet with someone that you don’t know • never talk to someone you have never met before • never put personal info in passwords • don’t even get on Facebook or MySpace if under 13 years old

  5. Facts • the first chat room was created in 1991 • it was created by a company called Sun who renamed the system Java Chat • the best rated chat sites right now are talkcity.com and icq.com • some chat rooms have people who monitor language and behavior on the site
