What’s this course about? • for junior, senior, and grad • mainly focus on the data link layer • We will study the emerging wireless standards • basic math background is required • We will study basic queueing theory

Textbook • Required: • Data Networks, 2nd edition, Dimitri Bertsekas and Robert Gallager, Prentice Hall, 1992. (新月圖書代理) • Recommended: • An Engineering Approach to Computer Networking, S. Keshav, Addision-Wesley. • Computer Networks, 4th ed., Andrew S. Tanenbaum, Prentice-Hall.
Grading • In-Class Participation: 5% • Homework: 30% • Midterm (closed book): 30% • Final (open book): 35%
Misc • Participation is expected • You may want to take notes, especially for week 3-5 • Course materials (slides, HW, solutions, etc) will be posted on the course website • Hand in your homework in next week class • NO delayed homework • Do homework by yourself! • Let me know if you have any questions!
