These features influence land use and consequently the lives of the people who live here. • Topographic maps are constructed using contour lines, and they give us a visual layout of the elevation of our land. • Heat flow and movements within the Earth cause the rock cycle, plate tectonics and faulting, as well as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
