UN / CEFACT GROUP MANDATES • TBG - International Trade and Business Processes Group : business and governmental process analysis, best practices, and international trade procedures using the UN/CEFACT Modelling Methodology to support the development of appropriate electronic business solutions • ICG - Information Contents Management Group : management and definition of reusable information blocks retained in a series of libraries • ATG - Applied Technologies Group : creation of the trade, business and administration document structures that would be deployed by a specific technology or standard such as UN/EDIFACT or XML. • TMG - Techniques and Methodologies Group : providing all UN/CEFACT Groups with base ICT specifications, recommendations and education. It functions also as an ICT research group. • LG - Legal Group : issuing, publishing and presenting analysis and recommendations regarding legal matters related to UN/CEFACT.

UN / CEFACT TRANSPORT MISSION / TASKS • Standardisation : development of Electronic Business documents for Transport / Logistics - International, intersectorial, intermodal scope • Based on UMM / UML modeling • Application in syntaxes/ technologies : EDIFACT, XML/Internet • Maintenance of standard directories, code lists.. • Harmonising the international guidelines for UN/EDIFACT transport messages implementation (ITIGG / WETIGG - International Transport Implementation Guideline Group) • Wider developments in the emerging technologies : Mobile EDI...

GLOBAL HARMONISATION OF EDI IN TRANSPORT CREATED SEPT 1995 as an official sub-group of D4/TBG3 Transport Web site : www.uic.asso.fr/o_best/itigg/main.htm MISSION • Provide Principles and Rules for production of consistent and harmonised implementation guidelines and user manuals of UN/EDIFACT Transport messages throughout the world PIONEERING WORK FOR YEARS TO HELP USERS IN IMPLEMENTING STANDARDS

TBG3 Achievements highlights • Progress work on 2 Projects : Transport Business Processes Modelling and Core Components, for input to EDIFACT and XML standard solutions • Joint session with ISO/TC 204 :Standards for data dictionary and messages set for intermodal freight : harmonise data semantics contents with UN/CEFACT input (Core components, TDED) and further cooperate on data flow modelling/messages • Increased focus on exchanges related to security of freight transport : tracking of hazardous goods and waste, vessel movements, container e-seals...

ICT Standard Board Intelligent Transport Systems Steering Group • ICTSB initiative from 3 recognized European Standards organisations : CEN, CENELEC and ETSI, has established ITSSG • Launch 25 April 2003 • Objective : make recommendations to the Standards bodies, industry and the regulatory authorities on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) standardization issues and to focus on strategic coordination of standardization programmes • Chair : Cathy Jenkins UK Dpt of Transport, Secretariat : ETSI • Membership : public authorities, industry associations, infrastructure operators and users, vehicle manufacturers, ITS technology and service providers

ISO TC204 WG7.2 • Transport information and control systems : Standardization of data dictionary and message set for intermodal freight • Initiated and driven by the US Ministry of Transport • Strong focus on security of freight transport • Objective : produce an ISO Standard by mid-2004 • Cooperation with the UN / CEFACT Transport Group TBG3 and other ISO bodies ( TC 154, TC 8, TC 104 )
