  2. RECOGNIZING SUDDEN ILLNESS CHANGES IN CONSIOUSNESS NAUSEA DIFFICULTY SPEAKING OR SLURRED SPEECH NUMBNESS OR WEAKNESS LOSS OF VISION CHANGES IN BREATHING CHANGES IN SKIN COLOR SWEATING PRESSURE OR PAIN DIARRHEA SEIZURES PARALYSIS SEVERE HEADACHE

  3. CARING FOR SUDDEN ILLNESS DO NO FURTHER HARM CHECK SCENE CALL 9-1-1 CARE FOR LEFE-THREATENING CONDITIONS POSITION PERSON ON SIDE IF VOMITTING HELP PERSON REST REGULATE BODY TEMPERATURE MONITOR CONSIOUSNESS AND BREATHING FIND OUT PERSONS MEDICAL HISTORY

  4. FAINTING LOWER PERSON TO GROUND POSITION ON BACK RAISE PERSONS LEGS LOOSEN ANY TIGHT CLOTHING SUCH AS A TIE MONITOR BREATHING DO NOT GIVE THEM ANYTHING TO EAT OR DRINK CALL 9-1-1

  5. DIABETIC EMERGENCY • IF PERSON IS CONSCIOUS AND CAN SWALLOW FOOD OR FLUIDS, GIVE THEM SOMETHING WITH SUGAR IN IT • EX. OJ, • CALL 9-1-1 IF: • PERSON IS UNCONSIOUS OR IS LOSING CONSCIOUSNESS • CONSCIOUS AND UNABLE TO SWALLOW • DOES NOT FEEL BETTER WITHIN 5 MINUTES • YOU CANNOT FIND SUGAR IMMEDIATELY

  6. SEIZURES PERSON HAS NO CONTROL OVER SEIZURE DO NOT TRY TO STOP SEIZURE DO NOT HOLD OR RESTRAIN PERSON REMOVE NEARBY OBJECTS PLACE CUSHION UNDER THE HEAD PLACE PERSON ON SIDE IF FLUID IS COMING OUT OF MOUTH DO NO TRY TO PLACE ANYTHING BETWEEN THE PERSON’S TEETH

  7. SEIZURES • CALL 9-1-1 IF: • SEIZURE LASTS MORE THAN 5 MINUTES • PERSON HAS MULTIPLE SEIZURES • THE PERSON IS PREGNANT • PERSON IS DIABETIC • SEIZURE FOLLOWS A QUICK RISE IN BODY TEMPERATURE • PERSON FAILS TO REGAIN CONSCIOUSNESS

  8. STROKE SUDDEN WEAKNESS OR NUMBNESS OF FACE, ARM OR LEG USUALLY JUST ON ONE SIDE OF THE BODY BLURRED OR DIMMED VISION EXPERIENCE A SUDDEN, SEVERE HEADACHE, DIZZINESS OR CONFUSION

  9. STROKE CALL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY NOTE THE TIME THE SIGNALS STARTED IF UNCONCIOUS MAKE SURE THEY HAVE AN OPEN AIRWAY PERSON MAY BECOME ANXIOUS AND CONFUSED

  10. CARE FOR SUDDEN ILLNESS CARE FOR LIFE THREATENING CONDITIONS FIRST HELP THE PERSON REST MONITOR BODY TEMPERATURE REASSURE PERSON WATCH FOR CHANGES IN CONSCIOUSNESS AND BREATHING DO NOT GIVE ANYTHING TO EAT OR DRINK UNLESS FULLY CONSCIOUS

  11. IF THE PERSON: VOMITS- PLACE PERSON ON SIDE FAINTS- POSITION ON BACK AND ELEVATE LEGS HAS DIABETIC EMERGENCY-GIVE PERSON SOME TYPE OF SUGAR (ORANGE OR APPLE) HAS A SEIZURE-DO NOT HOLD RESTRAIN OR PUT ANYTHING IN THEIR MOUTH. CUSHION HEAD AND MOVE OBJECTS HAS A SEVERE ALLERGIC REACTION-ASSIST WITH THEIR MEDICATION (EX EPI-PEN)
