  1. Collaboration Through Learning Management System for Multiple Learning Object Creation Peter Goldsworthy, MA CLOE Manager University of Waterloo This project funded in part by Inukshuk Learning Plan

  2. A wee bit of background • Started in 2000/01 • repository in Ontario Canada • National Members & International Relations • Community minded • Collaboration on research and LO creation, became more important than single institutional submissions to repository

  3. Normal Operating Procedure Really? Is there such a thing? • Search & Submit LOs already in use. • Attend all MERLOT conferences • Attend each monthly teleconference meeting. • Actively promote the use of CLOE

  4. Major Projects • Every year we have submitted to government and non-government agencies for grants. • Some years we are fortunate. • Those years, as a community we build many LOs, or carry out specific research in our specialized area.

  5. Last year, Inukshuk: Last year, the Inukshuk Learning Plan funded CLOE for a project of tremendous undertaking and hard work. It was by far the most we have ever committed to do. Each partner collaborated with at least one other to create LOs. Then they were responsible for making sure all LOs were Peer Reviewed and sent to the Editor-in-Chief

  6. As CLOE Manager… … I became Inukshuk Project Manager. • With 20 Inukshuk partners (not all partners were within the Inukshuk allowable territory), and with each of them having up to four collaborative partner institutions, we needed a project management and work management tool.

  7. Enter our school’s LMS: Adapted our LMS • Created a workspace with a Gantt chart showing timelines. • Created Team Files Area • Created a Discussion Group for each LO. • Created a Wiki for all community members to discuss issues across team lines (we work as a community – not competitively, team against team).
