Targeting • On Election Day, we will only be contacting our currently identified supporters • This means the voter has been identified in CIMS within the last 365 days
E-Day Roles • Voter ID/GOTV Coordinator • Logistics Captain • Polling Location Captain • Canvasser • Driver
Voter ID/GOTV Coordinator • In charge on Election Day • Builds the GOTV Kits to ensure Polling Location Captains, canvassers, and drivers have what they need for E-Day • Remains in the Campaign Office on Election Day
Canvasser • Needs C2G on their phone or tablet • Should have C2G Volunteer access • Walk short distances between the car and doors • Will meet their Captain at their Polling Location before polls open • Will become a scrutineer once the polls close, and observe the count at a single ballot box
Driver • Needs to have access to a car for the full day, and be able to drive canvassers and their Captain from house to house • Will meet their Captain at their Polling Location before the polls open • Becomes a scrutineer after polls close, and will observe the count at a single ballot box • Ideally can drive their team to the victory party after the count
Election Day Schedule • Newfoundland and Atlantic Time • 8:30-8:30 PM • Eastern Time • 9:30-9:30 PM • Central Time • 8:30-8:30 PM • Mountain Time • 7:30-7:30 PM • Pacific Time • 7:00-7:00 PM
Overview of Election Day • 6:30 AM • Captains meet at Campaign HQ and pick-up their GOTV kits • 7:15 AM • Captains arrive at their Polling Location • 7:30 AM • Polls open • 9:00 AM • Canvassers and drivers meet their Captains
Overview of Election Day II • 9:30 AM • Teams depart to begin canvassing • 12:00 PM • Teams take a lunch break • Captains return to their Polling Location and mark off who has voted in C2G • 12:45 PM • Teams return to their polls to canvass the households of supporters who have not voted yet
The Final Push • 4:00 PM • Canvassers break for dinner • Captains pick-up and enter bingo sheets • 4:30 PM • Return to polls and begin canvassing • 7:15 PM • Return to the Polling Location • 7:30 PM • Polls Close, observe the count
Voter Identification • Voter Identification has changed since the 2015 General Election • 3 ID options to vote: • Driver’s license or other card issued by a Canadian government with your photo, name, and current address • Show 2 pieces of ID with your name, and at least one with your current address • Declare your identity in writing, and have someone you know vouch for you
GOTV Activity • Select the Activity created by your Voter ID/GOTV Coordinator • Press on the name of yourGOTV Activity, it will be listed under UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
GOTV Activity II • Press SIGN-UP
GOTV Activity III • Press CANVASS
GOTV Activity IV • A full list will pop-up of all the households with current supporters living in them
GOTV Activity V • You must select each of the supporters who live in the household
GOTV Activity VI • Select either NOT HOME or if the person is contacted, press SUBMIT
GOTV Activity VII • Households will be highlighted in different colours • Green = Was Not Home • Pink = Contacted • If they voted, they will be removed from the list
Bingo Sheets • Candidate’s Representatives will be permitted to take a paper copy of the Bingo Sheets from their Polling Location each hour on Election Day • The sequence numbers can then be entered directly into C2G
Quick Entry • From the main dashboard, click on GOTV • All volunteer level accounts can now add bingo sheet data
Quick Entry II • Under the GOTV section, you will be able to: • View the Overview of GOTV Statistics • Input Quick Entry Data
Quick Entry III • Click on QUICK ENTRY located on the bottom of the screen • Quick entry will allow you to enter both the poll number and sequence number of the voter
Quick Entry IV • Click E-DAYon the top left hand corner
Quick Entry V • Line-by-line enter in your poll number and sequence number then click ADD • You can enter up to 10 quick entries at a time then you must press SAVE
Polling Location Rules • You can’t wear or bring anything partisan into a Polling Location • You can’t wear the colours of any political party (Blue, Red, Orange, Green, Purple, etc) • Buttons and door hangers must be left outside • You can’t obstruct any voter from voting • It is prohibited to transfer any information from inside the Polling Location to outside • You can’t touch any EC material or ballots
Polling Locations • Hand the Central Poll Supervisor the Authorization of a Candidate’s Representative form • Take the Representative’s Declaration • Sign your name
Polling Locations II • Put on your name tag • Ensure the ballot box is empty before it is sealed • Observe the opening of the Polling Location

Scrutineering III • A valid ballot will: • Show clear intent which candidate the voter is selecting • Maintain the secrecy of the ballot • A ballot is void if it is: • Unclear what the voter’s intent is • Marked for more than one candidate • Not marked for any candidate • Marked to reveal the identity of the voter • The initials of the DRO are not on the ballot
Observing the Count • Once the Polling Location is closed: • Any voter who is in the line-up when the Polling Location closes, will be allowed to vote • The DRO and Poll Clerk will open the ballot box, dump the ballots on the table, and sort them by candidate • Each ballot will be unfolded and presented to the scrutineers based on the DRO’s initial assessment of the ballot
Observing the Count II • Each ballot must be counted in full view of all of the scrutineers • If there is any dispute who the voter cast their ballot for, the Returning Officer will make the final decision based on the voter’s intent • Elections Canada will write the final results on the Statement of the Vote
Observing the Count III • Once the count is complete, the scrutineers will bring the results to their Captain and initial the seal on the ballot box • The Captain will gather the results for each poll at their Polling Location and send them to the Voter ID/GOTV Coordinator • The Polling Location Captain must return their GOTV kit to the Campaign Office
Victory Party • Please ensure you have a safe ride home from the victory party, take a taxi or ride-sharing service
