Week 5Identity Management Keneth Rhodes ISYM 540
Introduction • Identity Management is not just access control • Need to protect the “Face of the Company” • Protect the company from a personal level • One employee at a time
Issues in the Office • Identity issues are wide spread • Identity issues with access to Physical locations • Identity issue in access to virtual locations • Who are you perceived as outside the company • Do we utilize Federated Services along with Single Sign On
Three perspectives • The Pure Identity Model • The User Access Paradigm • The Service Paradigm
The Pure Identity Model • A purist approach • Every entity can have multiple identity • Every identity can have multiple attributes
The User Access Paradigm • This model is most used by the business community • Used for access to software in the domain structure • The structure behind simple single Sign on
The Service Paradigm • The model for true Single Sign on • Identity data can be transferred and verified across the internet • Used in Federated Identity Management • Information can be passed outside the domain
