Formation of Ego/I/Self • Young infant hears the “word” of his name from his parents. He associates these words with a thought form. This equates the name with who he is. Formation of Self in Individual
Formation of Ego/I/Self • Children frequently refers themselves in the third person, e.g. Johnny is hungry. • Soon, they learn the magic word “I” and equate it with their name. Formation of Self in Individual
Formation of Ego/I/Self • Next come the thoughts of “me” and “mine” to designate things that are part of “I”. Thus identification with objects is formed. • These thoughts that represent things integrates into a sense of self, thereby deriving an identity from them. Formation of Self in Individual
Formation of Ego/I/Self • As the child grows up, the original “I” thought attract other thought to itself, e.g. identification with gender, possession, body as perceived by the senses, nationality, race, religion, profession, roles, knowledge, habits, memory, behavior, character, life, karma & destiny.
