Review of 62 case reports and articles. Nonfatal, relatively serious accidents included 210 individuals (survivors). Open-eye injuries were reported three times more often among eyeglass wearers (P = 0.04), The risk of airbag-related eye injury was 2.5% for any eye injury and 0.4%(very low) for severe eye injury. Eyewear did not seem to increase this risk but might interfere with the injury pattern. • MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATED OCULAR INJURIES in NIGERIA.  Ophthalmology Unit, Dept Of Surgery, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, Osun State, Nigeria  For a period of two years, April 2001 to March 2003, serial data were collected on all road traffic injuries sustained by patients presenting at the accident and emergency unit 2489 patients, 98 ocular injuries. (4%) Foreign bodies (27.6%), contusion (22.5%) corneosclera laceration (19.4%). Blow out fractures of the orbit 8.2%. 56 % had visual acuity of better than 6/18 in the injured eyes while 7.2% were blind

  7. CONCLUSIONES • Si bien los accidentes de transito no representan un porcentaje importante en lesiones oculares la pérdida de función es elevada. • Se encuentran lesiones características en los accidentes de tránsito tales como lesiones por airbag, sind del latigazo cervical, etc.
