  6. Legal status PhD • 4-year appointment (Collective Labor Agreement) + “fixed” salary • goal: write a thesis c.q. perform promotion research!! • Training and supportplan • 1 year judgement (go/no go) • possibility: maximum of one year extension

  9. Insurances (2) Disablement Insurance Act (WAO) • WAO-gap - 0,25% contribution - automatic - 70% coverage instead of 65% - single choice - N.B. request yourself if you don’t want to pay this contribution

  11. Insurances (3) Health care • Getting insurance is your responsability • ZNU payment (not during unemployment!) • Contribution towards health costs (specifically after your employment, carried out by KPMG) Forms available at P&O

  13. Saving days/flextime scheme (1) • possible: saving 4 x 7 days p.y. • promotion within 4 yrs: extra days are paid at 5% per day • extension => 28 days  cancelled

  14. Saving days/flextime scheme(2) • flextime scheme: use max. 10 days p.y. • when you save 7 days: 3 days left!!!!! • combinations possible ( 5 saving + 5 bike) • payment (for now) not possible • yearly adaptation working hours + leave of absent possible

  15. Thesis costs and taxes • Compensation thesis costs of max € 1815 (under condition: Library) • Total costs – compensation = deductable as educational costs for taxes

  16. Tax-free savingsarrangement • see DPO site • € 613 per year with one employer • start only 1st Januari
