Core Activities • Aerosol generation • Characterization of aerosol particles (output/particle size distributions) • Exposure of rodents to aerosol particles or vapors • Measurement of chemicals deposited in the respiratory tract and accumulation in blood of rodents • Gross and microscopic examinations of rodents • Disease induction in animal models (e.g. cancer)

Drug solubilization through engineering solid form (nanocaging, solid dispersion, cocrystallization, salt formation, etc.) • Tablet formulation and manufacturing process understanding and control • Structure-mechanical property relationship in organic crystals and powders C.C. Sun The aqueous solubility of poorly soluble drugs is significantly improved by nanocaging.

Kandimalla lab drug delivery projects • Design of nanotheranostics for the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases. • Elucidation of biophysical properties of endogenous macromolecules and their transport across the cellular barriers, particularly the blood brain barrier. • Development of novel drug delivery approaches to disrupt bacterial biofilms. • Strategies to evaluate and enhance oxidative stability of natural carrier oils.
