Read the passage "The Bracelet" and answer the close read questions #1 and 2.
Parts of a story setting characters conflict
characters - the people, animals or creatures who take part in the story's action.
conflict - the problem or struggle a character faces in the story.
conflict can be internal or external internal external
but...the power of a story comes from the action - what happens as the story develops. This is known as the plot - the series of events in a story
the plot diagram climax falling action rising action central conflict resolution exposition
exposition introduces setting main character hints at central conflict
central conflict the main problem carried through the entire story
rising action - conflict grows builds suspense
the turning point of the story makes the outcome of the conflict clear climax -
falling action - eases the tension shows how the main character resolves the conflict
resolution - reveals how everything turns out
In your notes, draw a new plot chart. Fill this out as we read "Boar Out There." (pgs. 32-33)
