  2. Colossians 3:12 - "humility" tapeinophrosunē - lowliness of mind; unselfishness (concern for the welfare of others); a desire to serve others. See Col. 2:18, 23; Eph. 4:2; Phil. 2:3; & I Pet. 5:5. See I Pet. 5:5; Jms. 4:6 (tapeinos) & Jms. 4:10 (tapeinoō).

  3. Colossians 3:12 – "meekness" praotēs - gentleness; mildness; meekness; mild & gentle friendliness. It consists not in a person's "outward behavior" only; rather it is an inwrought grace of the soul. It is that temper of spirit in which we accept His dealings with us as good, and therefore without disputing or resisting. It is the opposite of self-assertiveness & self-interest, but should never be mistaken for weakness (it is the fruit of power – Gal. 5:23; 6:1). strong enough to be gentle

  4. Colossians 3:12 – "longsuffering" makrothumia- that quality of self-restraint in the face of provocation which does not hastily retaliate or promptly punish; it is the opposite of anger & is associated with mercy. People testing! Cf. Galatians 5:22; Ephesians 4:2; & Colossians 1:11

  5. Colossians 3:13 - Forbearance - "bearing with one another" anechomai- put up with; to hold up; to endure. Cf. Ephesians 4:2; II Timothy 4:3; & II Thessalonians 1:4

  6. Colossians. 3:14 - "love" agapē - unconditional love; impersonal love. Cf. I Corinthians 13:1-8

  7. Jeremiah 1:19 (NKJV) They will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you,” says the Lord, “to deliver you.”
