Segmentation • Division of a body into interconnecting units that are repeated one after another along the main body axis. • Segmented animals may have repeating body series that are not similar to one another. • Most annelids; pronounced segmentation. • Others; fused segments or segments with specialized appendages. • E.g. insects segments fused into three units (head, thorax & abdomen); differ very much from one another.
