Information about our groups. The centre works in partnership with local Pre Schools, Nurseries, Childminder’s and Schools. The staff use the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) to plan activities for the groups and services that we provide. The EYFS Framework exists to support all professionals working with children from birth to 5years and was developed with a number of early years experts and parents. Centre groups focus on the 3 prime areas of your child’s development; Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development . Activities are provided to support the specific areas of learning; Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the world and Expressive arts and design. Stay and Play, Explore & Create All ages; Explore a range of sensory activities with your child. Explore, design and make with your child. Activities include; Hand painting, cornflour, water, rice play and music and movement.Prime area of EYFS – Physical & Personal Social and Emotional development. Stay and Play, Physical Play All ages; Physical play session with indoor sports and outdoor games. An opportunity for you to support your child to develop their fine motor (eg; mark making) and gross motor skills (eg; throwing). Prime area of EYFS – Physical Development. Stay and Play, TALK Enjoy fun activities and experiences that will support your child’s language and literacy development. Activities include bubble blowing, art activities and puppet shows. Designand make large and small scale models with your child. Prime area of EYFS – Communication and Language. Stay and Play, Music & movement; (Movers & Shakers or Shake Rattle & Rhyme) 3months – 5 years; Music and movement session with lots of fun activities, including making instruments, drama/acting, a touch of Yoga, parachute games and singing songs from around the world. Prime areas of EYFS – Communication and Language and Physical Development. Two Year Progress Checks. (By appointment only) Children aged 2years that are not attending a childminders, Pre School or nursery; Your child’s development and health check. Ask at reception for more information and to book an appointment.
Information about our groups. • Rising Stars • Is your child starting in nursery or reception? • To support your child to feel more confident and comfortable transitioning in to School, Pre School or Nursery, visit the children’s centre activities. Offer your child the opportunity to practice what they already know and to learn new skills in preparation for school. • It is a good opportunity for you to talk to staff about any concerns you have about your child’s learning and development. Groups are planned to the Foundation Stage Curriculum (like in nursery and reception) and focus particularly on the ‘3 Prime areas of learning’: Communication and Language, Physical and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. • Workshops will run in these sessions including: • Toilet Learning. • Behaviour. • Learning through play and • accident prevention. • Oral Health. PAFT 12 week Programme for Harrow parents. Sign up at reception. The 12 week programme requires a commitment from the parent to attend all sessions; once all sessions have been completed you will receive a certificate of attendance. The programme is run by PAFT trained staff. PAFT is a support programme based on the latest neuroscience research and supports the truths that parents are the most influential teachers of their children, and the early years lay the foundation for a child’s success in school and in life. Days of PAFT focus sessions will vary based on the needs of the group attending and staff availability. These sessions cover all areas of the EYFS. Stay and Play, Baby Group Birth – 18months Come and spend some quality time bonding with your baby. Explore activities with your baby that stimulate their senses and inspire their learning. Prime area of EYFS – Physical Development, Communication & Language and Personal, Social and Emotional. Stay and Play, Arts & Crafts 4 years + olds can come along with their families to explore and create with a range of arts and craft materials. Prime area of EYFS – Physical Development.
Information about our groups. Cedars Breakfast Club; Age; 4 – 11years. £2 per day, ask at reception for application pack. Managed by Cedars Manor School. Your involvement. Your opinion and involvement matters to us. We are looking for Harrow parents and carers to get involved in the development of centre’s services. If you are interested in; Parent Forums. Or Have a skill or interest that you would like to share with the community then please let us know by emailing; cedarschildrenscentre@harrow.gov.uk or contact us on; 020 8736 6222 Sensory Group For all children in particular those children with sensory impairment, special educational needs or if you as a parent have a concern about your child’s development. Explore sensory activities such as water, bubbles, sand, sound dens and textured paints. Sensory Room sessions also available. Foodbank Today in Harrow there are families struggling to put food on the table. For people on low income, a sudden crisis – redundancy, benefit delay or even an unexpected bill – can mean going hungry. Harrow Children’s Centres & the Foodbank provide emergency food vouchers and parcels and support to local people in crisis. Contact the centres if you need a voucher or an emergency parcel. • Oral Health Session • Tips on weaning from Breast-Bottle to Cup (Doidy Cup). • Oral Health & Dental Care education • How to encourage children to brush their teeth regularly. • How families can register with a local General Dental Practice.
