Home State of Climate Science One of the first things to understand is that climate science has evolved greatly in recent years – much of the data about climate conditions has grown substantial enough for specific trends to emerge. Scientific consensus about climate change has also evolved. Today, climate scientists are almost in complete agreement that unprecedented climate changes are occurring and that human activities are a reason why.   6. Home Visitors are asking about Climate Change In addition, interpreters are getting more questions about “Climate Change” or “Global Warming” from visitors. This training material was developed to help sort through the abundance of scientific and media information and craft effective interpretive responses for some of those inquiries. Although there are no easy answers for many complex science issues, this tool will make it easier to have an informed dialogue with the public and raise awareness about this critical issue of concern for our parks, for our culture. Climate Change Decision Tree Home To establish relevance, the interpreter connects the question to a sub-theme (a branch) on the tree… If many instances, the visitor may also be connected to the overall significance of climate change (the whole tree)… Melting ice has worldwide consequences. Earth is warming at an unprecedented rate and much larger changes are projected. As the opportunity evolves enough, the interpreter may be able to offer a key message and invite stewardship.
