Transporting more data faster • Transport more data • Licensed AMI continues to dramatically expand “the pipe” and increase speed: • 100 KHz to 525 KHz • Utilities want to transmit 3, 5,10 times the amount of data pushing speeds beyond 1.0 Mbps • Transport data faster • Decreasing latency is key to enabling time sensitive applications: • Channelize - dedicate channels to specific applications thus greatly reducing the latency that occurs due to multiple applications sharing channels • Optimization in routing algorithms
Expanding the highwaymore dedicated channels + Dedicated Highway 525 kHz 100 kHz To Smart Grid Moving Data Requires more lanes From AMI 1.2 Mbps 738 Kbps 387 Kbps 180 Kbps
Coverage – Complete Control • Optimizing communications to every endpoint • Power Control of transmit from endpoints • Redundant coverage ensures increased availability of every endpoint and less data backfill requirements
Secure true end-to-end IPV6 • Supports IPv6 across all platforms meters, FCI, DA, HAN, lighting control, and etc. • Transforms the system from a single application AMI network to an interoperable smart grid infrastructure • Enables industry standard addressing to be used between all endpoints and applications • Increased Security Measures • Integrating IBM's asymmetric encryption and / or Cisco Secure Routers to utility AMI endpoints
Smart Grid Evolution - UTILITY • Getting more out of your investment • Reducing latency enables the network to be used for time sensitive applications like DA, Remote Load Shifting, and Demand Response expanding use cases far beyond billing • Support multiple metering & endpoints platforms that require the ability to configure and download firmware to each effectively and efficiency • Continued enhancements that are forward and backward compatible

Planes / Trains / SmartGrid? Most pilots only fly the plane below 1000 feet during takeoffs and landings
Planes / Trains / SmartGrid? To control the train moving without manual effects & by using ir & rfid technologies. Now-a-days the trains are moving from one station to other station based on predefined lights and predefined distance and driver. But now we want to control the train without driver, in the sense we want to control the entire train automatically with technologies. Ir transmitter is placed at either sides of the railway station at a fixed distance. Also every train is provided with ir receiver. Whenever the train comes closer to the station the receiver will detects the signals and sends it to main control plant. Otherwise it maintains the low output after comparator. Rfid technology is used for calculating the distance b/w train and station rfid cards are placed on railway track for every 5km or 10km and every train will be equipped with rfid reader to identify the rfid cards. Whenever rfid card is detected the results are transmitted to main controller.
