Students optimise the use of college, course and resources to meet learning goals Student progress is tracked and recorded and regular opportunities are provided for progress review and action planning Students feel valued and part of an inclusive learning college Students become successful, active and independent learners Tutorial policy
Tutors are expected to: Pre-entry Interview, assess and admit applicants if appropriate and/or validate entry qualifications Provide guidance and refer students not meeting entry requirements Tutoring – the core tasks
Tutors are expected to: On entry Deliver induction Facilitate transfers Complete initial assessment and identify and monitor additional support needs Review achievements and needs Agree individual learning plan Identify any ‘at risk’ learners and arrange extra support Tutoring – the core tasks
Tutors are expected to: On programme Monitor punctuality, behaviour and attendance Monitor progress with course work Identify and act on potential drop-out Meet with individual tutees at least twicea term Review individual progress and set targets Monitor early leavers Plan progression Tutoring – the core tasks
Tutors are expected to: At exit Support student’s progression to next course, employment or H.E. Write a reference profile Monitor destinations Tutoring – the core tasks
Entitlement for Full Time Students • 1:1 each half term • 1:1 planned so all learners know when their tutorials will be • Scheme of work with well planned activities • Learner reports after each learners review day
Ensuring that students are: Placed on courses on which they can succeed Given the right start and shown how to approach their studies successfully Helped to assess their progress and to work out how they can improve Kept on track Given the right support to overcome difficulties Supported with plans and preparations for their future Tutoring – the core tasks
