Stats • Approx. 50% of U.S. adults use a smartphone. • Approx. 66% of those aged 18-34 use a smartphone. • For 28% of Americans, a mobile device is their primary way of accessing the Web.  • 243 million Americans age 13 & older use mobile devices. • 91% of mobile phone users have phones w/in arms reach 24/7. • General Population: 51% Android; 32% iPhones • UC: 33% Android; 49% iOS

Stats What Else Do We Do with Our Phones? • 54% use their phones in place of an alarm clock • 46% have dispensed with a watch in favor of using their smartphone • 39% use their phone instead of a separate camera • 28% use their phone instead of a laptop • One in 20 smartphone users use their phone in place of a TV (6%) or reading physical books (6%)

  5. EMAIL Email Communication on Mobile • 41% of people in U.S. read email on their mobile devices • Mobile email open rates + 34%; desktop emails - 9.5% (last 6 mos. of 2011) • Test to ensure yours is readable on various devices. • Do your links open to mobile-friendly Web pages?
