What’s New in RSA 8.0 Beta 1 – General usability

The latest beta version of RSA 8.0 introduces general usability enhancements, including a simplified modeling perspective, pop-up properties, enhanced navigation and linking, improved search capabilities, support for active language in viewpoints, and new public APIs for easier integration and customization.

  3. Modeling perspective • Simplified “Modeling” perspective to maximize (diagram) working space • Old perspective renamed to “Classic Modeling”

  4. Pop up properties • Element properties available through a pop up • The same data as in Properties View • Available from diagrams and Project Explorer

  5. Navigation and linking • Navigating to Pop up Properties and Project Explorer • Navigable tooltip on diagram • Hyperlinks in Properties View / Dialog

  6. Search enhancements • Simplified UI • Expanding results to show references • Working Sets support • Modified Date and Resource columns • Drag and drop search results onto diagram

  7. Viewpoints: active language support • Default active language can be tied to a viewpoint • New tab added to viewpoint preferences

  8. Viewpoints: export/import support • Can share viewpoints • Import / Export buttons added to viewpoint preferences

  9. Public API • Navigation and Linking API for the linked elements and link targets • Filters API for filtering in the Project Explorer • Search API for contributing to element types and search results • Viewpoints API to bind an activity to integrate with existing viewpoints • Profile extensibility API to obtain deployed profiles, and general profile utilities • Export/import API (UML2, XMI, Ecore) • OCL API migrated to Eclipse OCL 3.0
