A few thoughts about CAS August 1, 2012 ISS
Three Principles of service-learning by Robert Sigmun (1979) • Those being served control the services provided. • Those being served become better able to serve and be served by their own actions. • Those who serve are also learners and have significant control over what is expected to be learned.
Changes for 2012 • CAS Blog • CAS Resources • CAS Leadership Council will be more student driven • Greater emphasis on structured reflection • Commitment to activities will be monitored through the attendance spreadsheets • Focus on the 5 Stages of Service Learning • Focus on the Experiential Learning Cycle

CAS Resources Library books to develop literacy in the context of service-learning are in the high school library.
A mirror bends back light, making visible what is apparent to others, but a mystery to us -- namely, what our faces look like.
In service learning, we look to develop processes that allow students to bend the metaphorical light of their experiences back onto their minds.
Reflection serves as the bridge between experiences and learning.

Monitoring Commitment http://casisssg.blogspot.sg/ This will be done in collaboration with Mr. Guillotel, the Athletic Director and ECA Coordinator.
