The month of October was very fun and exciting for the children! We covered a lot of material and the students seemed to follow along great! Thank you to all who helped out at the Halloween Party!! Homework- We will start homework next week! The homework is just reinforcing what is being done in class. It is not graded, just checked for understanding. Important Dates November 5th: No School November 11th: No School-Veteran’s Day November 25th: Half Day Dismissal at 12:05 -Parent-Teacher Conferences November 26th: Half Day Dismissal at 12:05- Parent-Teacher Conferences November 27th: Half Day Dismissal at 12:05 November 28th- 31st: No School-Thanksgiving Break. In Reader’s Workshop we will be starting our unit on Making Connections! The Theme for the Month of November will be: • Thanksgiving, Native Americans, and Fall. Math Here are some of the concepts that we will be reviewing and working on this month: -Counting by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s. -Geometry -Using a Number line -2 digit Pico Fermi Bagel -Number of the day -Addition facts to 12 -Understanding Subtraction Grammar/Phonics The following are phonics concepts that we will be learning and working on this month: Digraph: /th/, /ng/, /ing/, /ck/, /sh/, /wh/, /ch/, and l blends Phonograms: -est, -ent, -ang, -ing Initial Blends: with s and r Contractions: `s, n’t, and `ll Grammar: Telling and asking parts of sentences.
