The Basic Rules • Maximum 13 hours driving for each shift • 14 hours on-duty (driving + on-duty) • 16 hour elapsed time window (14 hours on-duty + 2 countable off-duty hours) • Minimum ½ hour off-duty qualifying period • 10 hours per day off-duty • 8 consecutive off-duty hours + 2 other hours • 70 hours in 7 days • 36 hour reset

The Basic Rules • Drivers may use a 2 hour deferral provision every 2nd day • All drivers must be able to provide 14 days of HOS history- On-Duty and Driving hours, even those drivers operating within the 160 kilometer zone • Allowance for drivers to use a CMV for personal use( up to 75 kms per day) after their elapsed work shift

  4. Know Your Numbers • Maximum 13 hours of driving per day • Maximum 14 hours on-duty per day • Minimum 10 hours off-duty per day (minimum ½ hour qualifying period) • Maximum 16 hours elapsed work shift • Can defer up to 2 hours every 48 hours

  5. 1 Day = 24 Hours RULES • Minimum of 10 hours of off-duty time must be taken every day. • Off-duty periods- minimum 30 minute increments to qualify • Maximum of 13 hours driving in a day • No driving after 14 hours of on-duty in a day

Workshift RULES • Maximum of 16 hours (elapsed time- E.T.) • Time period which starts the instant you are on duty after having taken a minimum of 8 hours off-duty • Includes all time • 8 consecutive hours off-duty resets the work shift • Sleeper berth periods are not counted in the 16 hour E.T. when they qualify for the sleeper berth rest provision

  9. Workshift • After 13 hours of driving you must take a minimum of 8 consecutive hours off-duty before you can drive again • After 14 hours of on-duty you must take a minimum of 8 consecutive hours off-duty before you can drive again

  13. Deferral of Off-Duty Time 48 hour averaging • 48 hour averaging allows a driver to reduce the daily off-duty requirement of 10 hours by up to 2 hours provided the 2 hours is not part of the mandatory 8 consecutive hours • This deferred time is added to the 8 consecutive hours on the second day • This provision may be used every 2nd day if a driver chooses

Cycle • All Interlink drivers operate on the 70 hour/7 day cycle. • When you reach the end of your cycle, you must book off for 36 consecutive hours to complete your “reset” before you can start your new cycle. • You CAN reset and begin a new cycle at any time by simply booking off for 36 consecutive hours.

Off Duty Split in Sleeper Berth RULES For Split Periods • Single drivers using a sleeper berth must use two separate periods totaling 10 hours off-duty, provided neither period is less than 2 hours • Teamdrivers using a sleeper berth must use two separate periods totaling 8 hours off-duty, provided neither is less than 4 hours (10 hours off must still be taken in a day)
