As a Democratic leader, she is the first woman in U.S. history to ever lead a major party in congress. • George W. Bush: In 2001, Bush was elected as 43rd President of the U.S.. He was later reelected in 2005. • Condoleezza Rice: She was the firstAfricanAmerican women to serve as secretary of state. • Jimmy Carter: He won the Nobel Peace Prize for trying to bring peace to places from Haiti and North Korea.

  5. Key Events! • September 11, 2001: On this day a series of terrorist attacks occurred. They were lead by al-Queda, an Islamic terrorist group. • War In Iraq: In 2003, we went to war because of our suspicions of them having weapons of mass destruction. • Hurricane Katrina: This was one of the deadliest storms in U.S. history.It did most damage along the coastlines of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. • The Human Genome: Scientists of the U.S. and Britain announced their discovery of the genome.This meant they had discovered all the genes that make up the human body. • The Columbia Disaster: On its way down from space, this shuttle exploded due to missing parts.

  6. Ronald Wilson Reagan , the 40th president of the United States, died on Jun 5, 2004 at his home in California. He was 93 years old and had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Hurricane Katrina, a Category 5 hurricane of 2005, was one of the deadliest storms in American history. It did catastrophic damage along the coastlines of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. The storm killed around 1,604 people and was responsible for $75 billion dollars worth of damage.

He also broke Babe Ruth’s record of 714 all time home runs. • Tiger Woods: He became the youngest golfer at age 24, to ever win all four major golf tournaments. • The Boston Red Sox: In 2004, they won their first world series in 86 years. They had broke the famous curse of the great bambino. • Lance Armstrong: He won the Tour De France 7 times in a row after overcoming cancer numerous times. • Tony Dungy: He became the first African American head coach to ever win a Super Bowl.

In the show people sing to eventually become famous in the profession of singing. • Crocs: They were originally made for gardening and soon became a popular and comfortable footwear for many across the nation. • Boys Fashion: Collared shirts, jeans and athletic apparel were popular for boys. Popular brands for teens were American Eagle and Aeropostale. • Myspace: Became a popular website were anyone could create their own web page and put personal information for all to see. • Girls Fashion: Collared shirts, skirts, skinny leg jeans, were the look for many girls. Popular brands for teen girls were Hollister and Abercrombie.

Inventions! • Ipod: This invention allowed people to digitally listen to music on a small compact device. • Hybrid Vehicles: This allowed people to drive around more safely and not pollute the air with the fumes that regular cars do. • Gaming Systems: These systems provided sharper graphics and also interactive ways of playing video games. • HDTV: This invention provided TV’s with a clearer picture and sound. Throughout this decade they have become more popular in homes. • GPS: This invention allowed ordinary people to access any place in the country from their cars. With this there would be no excuse for getting lost.

  15. On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, there were a series of terrorists attacks. The hijackers crashed two planes into the World Trade Center in Manhattan, New York City. There were 2,986 deaths including the 19 hijackers. the attack were affiliated with al-Qaeda, an Islamic terrorist group led by Osama bin Laden.
