  1. In An Emergency: Thinking and Doing CHIEF WARDENS : THINKING Who can help? Which area warden is available? Do I need to discuss this problem with area wardens first? I am responsible for staff and customer safety What is the best way of managing this emergency? What is the right SAFETY PROCEDURE? Does somebody need first aid or to be taken to the clinic? Calm and steady! Can the problem get worse? Do I need to close the store or can we control it? I will tell Area Wardens and staff what they need to do How bad is this problem, can it cause death or injury? Who else do I need to contact? Police? Local directors?

Ringing Police, the clinic or emergency services Controlling small fires, small chemical spills Talking with staff and directing what to do Organising First aid or doing it themselves Telling all customers and staff to leave the store Collecting timesheets, sat phone, emergency numbers and first aid kit

  3. In An Emergency: Thinking and Doing CHIEF WARDENS : DOING Calm and steady! Moving staff outside Checking all customers and staff are out of store if closing store Keeping customers and staff safe from chemical spills Checking names of staff outside store Fill in an OHS report

In An Emergency: Thinking and Doing AREA WARDENS : THINKING I will help the staff know what to do next Does somebody need first aid or taken to the clinic?  What information do I have that can help the chief warden? I am responsible for the staff and customers in my store area Calm and steady! Knowing the store safety rules is very important I will follow the Chief Warden’s directions When there is an angry or dangerous customer, I will help the Chief Warden understand the best way culturally to manage this If the emergency is very serious I will help the Chief Wardens (Store Managers) get ready to close the store

Listening and talking with the chief warden Knowing store safety evacuation plan and nearest safety exit Collecting timesheets, Sat Phone, first aid kit Calmly making sure staff and customers leave store at nearest exit Managing small fires and chemical spills if trained and directed by Chief Warden

  6. In An Emergency: Thinking and Doing AREA WARDENS : DOING Calm and steady! Locking the front door Turning off gas Helping chief warden with angry people Cyclone preparation Checking all staff and customers are out of stone (checking toilets too) Meeting with everybody outside for name check . Is everybody safe?
