Protecting Privacy in Small Cohorts • Release scores only to candidates • Only candidate may release scores to schools • Failing candidates receive diagnostic report indicating areas they must improve to pass • School reports show group data only if N>5 • Accumulate data for analyses over time • Never release item & test analyses w/N<50 • Use item/test data w/N<50 very cautiously
Other Privacy & Security Issues Information Available to Public • Public access only to verify licensure • Release scores only to candidates • Create ways for public to request inquiry Using Social Security Numbers • Candidates with multiple IDs & SSNs • Fee-based impersonation & proxy services
