  1. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Minds On Solve the following: a) 3w – 2 = 2w + 3 b) c)

  2. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form • Learning Goals: • I can graph lines from the equation • y = mx + b

  3. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form Steps for graphing a line in y=mx+b form: Start by plotting the y-intercept (b). Count up or down for the rise and then right for the run and make another point Continue counting for the rise and run and making additional points Connect points with a line

  4. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form Graph the line y = x + 4

  5. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form Graph the line y = 3x - 7

  6. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form Graph the line y = - x - 4

  7. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form Graph the line y = 2x

  8. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form Graph the line y = x + 2

  9. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form Graph the line y = - 6

  10. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form Graph the line y = -x + 1

  11. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form Graph the line x = 3

  12. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form • Things to remember when graphing lines: • Always start by plotting your y - intercept (b) • If there is no “b” in your equation, b = 0 • If the slope is negative go DOWN from the previous point(instead of up) and then over to the RIGHT. • If there is no “x”, m = 0 • If there is an x with no number, m = 1

  13. Unit 5: Analytic Geometry Lesson One: Graphing Lines in y=mx+b Form • Practice • Pg. 122 #16 (graph lines)
