  2. Session TwoOUR SALVATION -- What is RELIGION? Introduction… -- What is SPIRITUALITY? -- What is the difference between religion and spirituality? -- Is Christianity RELIGION or is it a form of SPIRITUALITY or BOTH or NEITHER?

  3. Session TwoOUR SALVATION Facts about Salvation

  4. Session TwoOUR SALVATION FACT #1: YOU are made in the image and likeness of God. • You are self-aware. Humans ask questions: • Who am I? Question of value • Why am I here? Question of purpose • Why did this happen? Question of meaning • You are a moral being. Humans can choose (tell apart) • Right vs. wrong… • Good vs. evil… • Honest vs. dishonest

  5. Session TwoOUR SALVATION FACT #2: YOU were born spiritually separate from God. You have sinned and that sin has separated you from God. • Rom. 3:10-18 • Ephesians 2:4-5

  6. Session TwoOUR SALVATION FACT #3:YOU cannot bridge the gap that sin has created between you and God. • Some people say: “I’m OK with God because….”

  7. Session TwoOUR SALVATION FACT #4: GOD has provided the waythrough his Son, Jesus Christ. (John 14:6) • When God sees your life, he sees all of it – the good and the bad. (Proverbs 15:3) • Jesus came to die as the paymentfor your sins. (Isaiah 53:6) • Jesus paid in full for your sins on the cross. (John 19:30)

  8. Session TwoOUR SALVATION FACT #5: YOU must receiveGod’s gift of salvation. (Be born again) (John 3:3) • Repentof your sin. (Agree with God about your sin.) (Acts 3:19) • Place your faithin Christ. (Trust in what Jesus did on the cross.) (Eph. 2:8, 9) • Surrenderto Jesus as Lord. (Submit to Jesus’ authority.) (Romans 10:9-10) • ReceiveJesus! (Receive forgiveness and new life in Christ.) (John 1:12)

  9. Session TwoOUR SALVATION FACT #6: YOU pray to receive. “God, thank you for creating me. I know I have sinned and need your forgiveness. I believe your Son, Jesus Christ, died for all my sins. I believe Jesus rose from the dead and is alive today. I now receive your forgiveness and invite Jesus to come live in me. I give my whole heart and life to him. Thank you for loving me and saving me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

  11. Session TwoOUR SALVATION • Baptism is the first step of obedience to Christ. Baptism is a: • Public declaration of your faith in Christ. “going public” • Perfect illustration of your death, burial, and resurrection in Christ – immersion / baptism • Personal identification with Christ and his church – the wedding ring of the Christian experience.
