What is Bullying? • Verbal • Teasing, name-calling, inappropriate sexual comments, taunting, threatening to cause harm • Social • Leaving someone out on purpose, telling others to not be friends with someone, spreading rumors, embarrassing someone • Physical • Hitting, kicking, spitting, tripping, pushing, taking or breaking someone’s things, mean or rude gesture • 20% of students in grades 9-12 experience bullying

  3. Effects of Bullying Have you ever or do you know someone who has been a victim of bullying? What effects did it have on you or them?

  4. What is a Bystander? • Bystander- A person who observes a conflict or unacceptable behavior. • Active bystander- Someone who takes steps that can make a positive difference. (Intervene, take action)
